Category:Probability theorems[Evaluation of a new diagnostic procedure for the screening of bovine brucellosis in Brazil].
The diagnosis of brucellosis is based on the isolation of Brucella sp. from the blood or tissue samples of a suspected animal and on the demonstration of specific antibodies. Blood samples (25 ml) and biopsies from retropharyngeal lymph nodes (10 g) from 13,433 calves aged less than six months were collected from the slaughterhouse in the State of São Paulo, Brazil. The samples were inoculated into two tube cultures of Brucella sp. The isolation rate of Brucella sp. from retropharyngeal lymph nodes was 0.6 per cent (95% CI: 0.4-0.8), and that from blood was 0.3 per cent (95% CI: 0.2-0.4), thus demonstrating that Brucella sp. is present in both blood and retropharyngeal lymph nodes in calves, and that the diagnostic techniques used to detect the disease can be improved.s Saundra Swain.

Swain points out that the answer to most of our environmental challenges is not for the American people to change, but for government to change.

“We are living within our means, the government is living well beyond their means,” she says.

Rails – methods that act on a model

I’m starting to learn Rails, and I’m confused about the following two statements:

Models are dumb, they don’t care if you manipulate their data.
All model methods are available on a model instance.
